FEARLESS • SELF-RELIANT • LOYAL

Allison has experienced tremendous loss and is currently battling cancer and yet, this interview is full of life and joy.

In this truly delightful conversation, Allison and I talk about EMOTIONS – and how they never disappear so pretending they don’t exist causes us way more harm than good. BUT if you allow yourself to really, truly feel emotions as they come, they are less likely to fester. We also talk about the incredible power of helping others which has a magical way of widening our world view and perspective. Oh and one more thing … Everybody can be a writer. All you need to do is start telling the truth.

Top Takeaways

  • Emotions don’t disappear. Bad feelings can’t resolve on their own. If you allow yourself to feel all your emotions as they come, they’re less likely to fester.
  • It’s okay (and encouraged) to write for yourself, rather than for an audience. Not everyone may tell a cohesive story, but anyone can feel the therapeutic benefits of putting their story on paper.
  • Reading other peoples’ stories can help you better understand the world.
  • Having a loving support system can, literally, save your life.

I'm Heather Vickery

Host and Executive Producer of The Brave Files Podcast.

Each and everyday around the globe, people are showing up for themselves and making a difference in the lives of others with their courageous journeys. Those stories are important to showing others that anything is possible.

If your story is one of acknowledging your fears, being intentional and showing up for yourself even when everything felt like so much, then, I want to share your story.
