Have Passport, Will Travel

Matt Javit and his wife were looking for an exciting new experience so they spent the last year traveling the world. Armed with one backpack each, they left behind their high achieving jobs to realize their dreams of traveling full time.

In this episode, Matt shares his experience and shows how freedom can be found in taking a leap of faith. That freedom is maintained through consistently pushing yourself to be brave in the face of new experiences.

A Seed Is Planted

Matt spent close to ten years in technology sales. He was always a hard worker with big goals and dreams. Through his company’s sales incentive plans, he began to travel internationally, visiting some truly amazing places. These experiences eventually led Matt and his wife, Nikki, to discover a deep love of travel.

Soon they began dreaming of traveling full time. They eventually began to create a plan, saving money, and preparing to leave the country. In their words, they were “gearing up to run toward something wonderful.”

Traveling Full Time

Matt and his wife took a giant leap of faith. When they searched their souls, they realized now is the time when it comes to your dreams. Additionally, they knew this was the perfect time in their lives to face such a big risk head-on. Both left their jobs in a positive way, never running away from their current realities – simply heading down the path of opportunity. The decision felt inevitable and yet extremely brave!

Beginning their journey in South America, they set off towards adventure. They have now visited countless places including southern Europe, India, South Africa, Japan, Thailand, and New Zealand. Matt knew he wanted to document their travels so he and Nikki created the Passport to Joy podcast to share their adventures.  Matt was also committed to focusing on immersing himself in the local culture. From this experience, he hatched the idea of visiting local barbers in each new location and soon a new YouTube series sprung forth: World Barber Shop Adventures.

Growing Through Travel

To Matt, this time was about so much more than just visiting new places. He spent his time learning new skills and stretching himself in ways he never had before. Together, Matt and Nikki run a blog and podcast focused on their travels. While the content focuses on their fulltime travel experience, the backend work required to keep up with it all requires focus, education, and creativity. Matt conquers these things head-on! These business ventures taught Matt the importance of effective delegation and the utilization of online tools. We, at The Brave Files, fully understand the work ethic needed here!
