Shawn Anderson strives to improve every day. He believes the greatest parts of his life are yet to come. With that mindset, it’s easy to see each new day as an adventure! Shawn chooses to live an extraordinary life, turning his visions into reality through action. In turn, he shares this valuable mindset shift with those he encounters.
Shawn fully understands that each of us has a vision deep down of how we expect our lives to play out. However, visions only take us so far. If we desire true change, we need to take the reigns and make it happen!
Vision to Reality
In terms of personal growth, it’s true that identifying your behaviors is a step in the right direction. Shawn understands the connection between our perception of the world around us and the actual reality of our situations. He emphasizes the importance of learning to control your thoughts so you can then control your feelings. Once you have an understanding of your feelings, you can change your actions. It’s that circle that leads to mastering a positive mindset.
And a positive mindset changes everything!
Start Each Day in Reflection
In connection with his vision for a life of meaning, Shawn challenges us all to start every day with a few simple but reflective questions.
- What am I excited about?
- Who can I serve?
- What am I grateful for?
We couldn’t agree more! These are great questions to ask yourself when starting your day with intention.

MORE ABOUT SHAWN:
To kick off the initiative, Shawn pedaled his bike across the United States, holding events in numerous cities. He interviewed hundreds of people who had been identified as “going the extra mile” in their own communities. It was then that Extra Mile America was born. Over the last ten years, Extra Mile Day has grown exponentially – always acknowledging those going great things in volunteerism and service within their own communities.
Connect with Shawn
Shawn has since pushed himself to “go the extra mile” (quite literally) and pedaled across the US twice. Additionally, he walked across a total of six countries and is currently trekking across the seventh!
