The most meaningful things in life are almost never “convenient.” They are our soul’s expansion and our highest growth. Those things never show up in convenient ways.
Raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cherie Burton has endured everything from spiritual abuse to shaming. The former Mrs. Utah’s life journey has taken turns past death, miscarriage, and adoption. Nevertheless, Cherie has truly found her calling by inspiring and encouraging women to embrace their wholeness.
At 25 years old, Cherie became pregnant. Sadly, the Mormon faith strictly forbids women from being an unwed mother. Ultimately coming to the decision on her own, but with pressure from the church, Cherie decided to give up her daughter for adoption. Having a child out of wedlock and giving that baby up for adoption, led her to be kicked out of school at Brigham Young University, a Mormon college, with just one year left. Cherie was “disfellowshipped” by the church because of her pregnancy. It was a humiliating experience in front of an all-male “court.”
The Struggle
Cherie eventually got married and gave birth to three children. Then she decided to pursue a life-long dream of doing beauty pageants. Unfortunately, at the same time, her two sisters were struggling with mental illness. Both diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Cherie desperately wanted to help them. One of her sisters tragically took her own life, and the other said she had planned to do the same. Eager to understand the relationship between science and the soul, Cherie began to study “spiritual holistic psychology.”
The Now
Finally, after four miscarriages and a long battle with an adoption agency, Cherie welcomed two new children to her family. Today, she is running an online school called “Stand Speak Shine.” This three-month coaching program helps women embrace their feminine worth and creative powers. Her services also include online self-help courses, audio presentations, and ebooks on the topics of depression, emotional wholeness, and more. In addition, Cherie works and travels with a wellness company, doTERRA, and hosts her own podcast, Women Seeking Wholeness.
Additionally, after doing a lot of hard work to save her own marriage, Cherie has created the “Save Your Marriage in 40 days” course to help couples who want to save their marriage!
Cherie is, undoubtedly, a shining light in the world. Her energy helps lift women up in truly magical ways!
