Not enough
Dolores Hirschmann is an internationally recognized strategist, clarity coach, TEDx organizer, speaker, and author. She is also the host of her own YouTube Based program, Clarity Tv.
Today, Dolores is hugely successful. She didn’t, however, become an incredible entrepreneur by chance or overnight; her inspiring story began after she was forced to become the breadwinner of her family when her husband’s business came to a screeching halt.
A Moment of Terrifying Clarity
After her husband received his last paycheck, Dolores realized that the survival of her family rested fully on her shoulders. She was going to be solely responsible for providing for her household.
While she had already been running a successful business, her income was hardly enough for her family’s upkeep. Things were so bad that some nights she would cry herself to sleep only to wake up and cry some more. It was frustrating because she needed to show up for her clients in order to show up for her family and she couldn’t seem to get a handle on her emotions.
Deep down inside, Dolores says, there was a disconnect between her capacity to help people and having that be the main source of financial safety for her family. She was sure she couldn’t take on both the role of mother and provider at the same time.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
And Dolores did find a way.
Show up for your dreams
Within a month, Dolores had an awakening of sorts. It became clear that she had only two choices; to either show up and try or watch the quality of her family’s life reduce.
Show up and try.
Show up and try.
Show up and try.
Her strategy was to try to expand her business and increase her income. Truth be told, Dolores had always dreamed of expanding and growing her business. The difference now was that this growth was a must if she was to provide for her family.
Her mama bear instincts kicked in and although she wasn’t prepared, she chose bravery, rolled up her sleeves, and found a way.
And Dolores did find a way. Her trying turned into succeeding. Sometimes your dreams come true through the back door. Often they appear in the form of pain or setbacks. And in this case, this setback was, for Dolores, a blessing in disguise.
Bravery is a choice. It is not a lack of fear it is an embracing of fear. Just like Dolores, you can choose to be brave instead of choosing to roll over and die.
Clarity Creates Purpose
Despite being terrified that the worst would happen and her entire family would end up living under the bridge, Dolores pushed onward. She knew her fears were rash. She decided to change that negative vision and make a bold move forward.
Show up and try.
Show up and try.
Show up and try.
She started by calling at least 3 people a day and asking if they knew other people who needed coaching. Bit by bit and with baby steps, Dolores built her incredible, thriving business.
Meanwhile, her focus, despite the pressure of the financial burden, wasn’t just on making more money. She had one major goal in mind, making a great deal of impact on her clients. That impact also, thankfully, equaled a paycheck!
It's ok to want more
Dancing between being a rockstar and a victim, there were times when she would break down and didn’t hesitate to receive uplifting help even if that help came from clients. Learning to ask for help is a powerful and life-changing experience.
Dolores shares that, at some point or another, we all come to realize that we can’t always be strong. Even the best of us need support and love. Don’t be afraid to ask for support when you need to.
Becoming a TEDx organizer
At one point she realized she still didn't feel fulfilled. There was something missing. Following the guidance in Gay Hendricks’ book ‘The Big Leap’, she asked herself what would she want to do for free, all day long. The answer was “hang out with people with really big ideas.”
Having been a team member of Tedx for a while, an opportunity came up to be an organizer for a TEDx event and she volunteered. Being clear about a core idea and how to properly communicate it is a struggle for many speakers, even professionals. Dolores knew she could help!
A light bulb came on in her head, and her experiences helped birth her mission of helping people clarify their messages, ideas, and positioning.
Thus, Clarity TV was born with the goal of interviewing people that have journeyed through life, found their own clarity, and taken action(s) that have had an impact.
