Top Takeaways From This Episode

  • You can always change your story.
  • Slow change is always better than the “quick fix.”
  • Intention matters. Showing up to the table with the intention of helping humanity will always create better results.
  • Recognize your true values, and protect them.

Deciding to Change Her Story

Kiri-Maree has a passion for helping other leaders. Though it’s individualized for each person she works with, she always puts a focus on making humanity better.

But Kiri-Maree wasn’t always this bright, bubbly person. She describes her younger self as not having a voice, something a lot of listeners can probably relate to. But she always had a vision of her future self, unsatisfied with her current “story”. So she knew that she had to make a change. Though the work was hard (it always is, isn’t it?) she knew it was worth it in the end.

Changing Corporate Culture

Every decision makes an impact. Kiri-Maree makes sure all the leaders she works with know this. Everything they do with their company or movement changes the community around them. Kiri-Maree specializes in helping with slow, sustainable changes that go against systemic issues buried deep in corporate culture.

Rewiring corporation issues is uncomfortable for a lot of people. It means digging up the patriarchal, classist issues that keep innovation from happening. Kiri-Maree has a single question for her leaders that can change their views: “what will be best for the human race.” Using this as a lens, she can help leaders create real change.

Diverse Leadership

The United States political climate has changed so much about global leadership. However, the United States is no longer viewed as the center of the world and has begun to be seen as just another part of the whole.

There are hundreds of leaders in other parts of the world that have emerged as big players in the world of sustainability, change, and growth for humanity. With more diversity at the table, different, better solutions will come to light.

Connect with Kiri Maree

Kiri-Maree is a leadership consultant who helps CEOs build better companies by leading with humanity. You can find her on Linkedin, Instagram, and Facebook. She also runs a Facebook group for leaders where you can connect and grow your personal circle of leaders.

Giving is Good

Kiri-Maree’s charity of choice is Voice Advocacy Foundation. It’s her own charity, with a current focus on the Highlands Project, creating a job training center in a small village in the highlands, to help give more opportunities to the residents there. With this project, she hopes to help them become self-sustaining.

"The more I traveled the world, the more I realized that I knew nothing!"
