Determined not to live a Limited Life

Growing up Michael considered himself an introvert, however, being the youngest child of older parents, he soon learned that the only way forward was to speak up and go out and get uncomfortable.

Oh, he’s still an introvert. He’s just learned how to get what he wants and be happy by using his introvertedness to his advantage. Through many trials and tribulations, Michael soon discovered that being an introvert was not an inherent disadvantage. In fact, it turned out to be quite the opposite.

Introvert to Musical Theatre

He was tired of life happening to him. So Michael set out on an adventure to make life happen because of him. Being the quiet kid only gets you so far in school, and he was tired of opportunities passing him by. When he heard of an open audition to be in musical theatre with his best friend, Michael decided to step out of the box for the very first time. It was oh so uncomfortable but lead to the most wonderful results.

Creating Your Own Truth

Going from being the big fish in a little pond to being a guppy in an ocean is not easy for anybody; imagine adding the loss of a lifelong friendship. This is what happened when Michael went off to college.

He was lonely, a little scared, and also determined. Desperate to fill the void in his life, Michael decided to take on one of the hardest jobs in the world: door-to-door sales.

Who would have thought that selling knives door-to-door would be the key to unlocking Michaels's happiness, perspective, and ultimate success.

Life After College

Most college seniors submit job applications after job applications; instead, Michael has already launched his own business venture. From the meditation skills he learned in high school to the self-help books he read as a knife salesman, Michael has a Podcast designed to, specifically, support young adults in taking control of their own destinies called Control Shift Mindset. From student leaders to highly experienced entrepreneurs, discover actionable advice, insights, and mental tips to set yourself up for future success. Check out his interview with The Brave Files Host, Heather Vickery here.
