Creating a Balanced New Year!

What a strange, unusual holiday season this has been, right?

I’ve been chatting with some clients and just realized that the holidays are a perfect example of how we’ve all managed to survive 2020.

Turns out that this year has taught us

  • Patience
  • Flexibility
  • Creativity
  • Making seemingly “small” moments magical and meaningful
  • Ways to get our needs met that we might not have considered in the past

This year has been frustrating, that’s for sure. But I’m beyond grateful for these lessons and I fully intend to take them with me into the New Year.

Creating a balanced 2021 will take intention!

I hope you’re taking some time this week to really love on the important people in your life (even from a distance)…and don’t forget to love on yourself also!

I the week between Christmas and the New Year to sit back and reflect on the things most important to me. Honestly, the extra time with my family forces me to slow down, and I’m so glad. It’s basically a built-in period of reflection and rejuvenation if you allow it to be! Or, it can be maddening and frustrating – the only difference is how you mentally approach it and you have all the control over that!

This year, I’m tuning in to all the ways I can better embrace boundaries to find balance. I’m already pretty skilled at this (you know boundaries are my jam!), but I’m focusing specifically on expectations. When you think about it, expectations shape everything around us.

Clearly communicated expectations transform the way you experience life and do business.

Really think about that one for a minute. When your expectations are aligned, your overall experience is much more enjoyable. This holds true for your clients and loved ones too! When others know what to expect from you, a significant weight is lifted. The pressure is off in terms of living up to standards that either feel out of reach or are outside of what aligns deep down for you. If you ask me, clear expectations promote balance.

Balance is found through effective boundaries.

The first step to effectively managing expectations is to create clear boundaries. Again, when others know what to expect – from when you’ll do the laundry to the date you’ll have project deliverables completed – life runs more smoothly.

That whole idea of boundaries being the key to guilt-free freedom…?

It’s 100% true.

Clearly communicating your boundaries removes unbalanced expectations from the picture. It’s no longer on your shoulders, and that can be seriously liberating. When you release yourself of the tight grip around attempting to control how others respond, your life and business will completely transform.

Life is more pleasurable when it feels balanced.

Balance is what we’re all aiming for, is it not? So believe me when I say…It’s worth your time and energy!

I’d love to hear about how you’re working towards creating more balance in your life.

What are you specifically doing today to create more effective boundaries within your life?

Remember…Baby steps make a big difference! So small changes lead to major transformation.
